Training to walk 52.5 miles

I met Sharon quite a few years ago when we were both members of the Chartered Institute of Insurance Isle of Man Branch. I was the then President and handed over to Sharon who became President. We are good friends. I admire Sharon’s high level of professionalism but the big one is that she actually listens to what you are trying to achieve not just in the next five years but in the next 30. Then she delivers what is right for you.

I run my own professional development and training business and have supported Sharon as she has grown Thornton from home office to a much larger operation. She is passionate about what she does and has a very strong ethos that the team very much believe in too.

I have recently taken part in a major walk. As an old bird I thought it would be good to challenge myself to the 52.5 miles of the 85 mile Isle of Man Parish Walk between 20 and 21 June 2015 to raise funds for Hospice Isle of Man.  This done, I now aim to complete the full 85 miles in 2016. This charity is important. It touches everyone’s life here on the island at our saddest moments. It was established 30 years ago to provide palliative care for the Manx public. Our children’s hospice is called Rebecca House and we need to raise £3.5 million a year to continue this much needed help.
