Our Charter

Our core belief

We are passionate about Lifestyle Financial Planning. We know that, if financial planning is done properly, it can make a real difference and change your life. Money is precious but your life is even more precious. We are here to help you look after both. Our job is to understand what you want to achieve over the course of your lifetime and then to marshal your financial resources to support you on that journey.

Our entire team puts clients and long-term, ongoing relationships with our clients at the very heart of our financial advice process. Any financial products are merely tools to help you achieve a better financial future.

Our profession

As Chartered Financial Planners, we have the highest qualification level in our industry. This is a mark of distinction and the gold standard for the financial planning profession, reserved for individuals and companies that can demonstrate pre-eminence, stability and permanence in their field. Companies are independently assessed on an annual basis by the Chartered Insurance Institute.

The suite of qualifications necessary to receive individual Chartered status is roughly equivalent to earning an honours degree. Practitioners must also have a minimum of five years’ relevant professional experience and commit to continual, annual Professional Development to ensure knowledge is up to date with the latest legislative, regulatory and technical developments. whilst acting with the highest standards of professional conduct.

Thornton Chartered Financial Planners upholds a code of ethics which sets out the standards of behaviour required of people working for us such that:

  • We comply with all relevant laws and regulations;
  • Act with the highest standards and integrity;
  • Act in the best interests of our clients;
  • Provide a high level of service;
  • And must treat people fairly in all regards.

Thornton was the first to achieve Chartered Status on the Isle of Man in 2009 and has retained this status every year since. This achievement is very important to us and we are proud of it. It means we know we can deliver a very high level of service, excellence and knowledge to those who have chosen to be our clients.
