Here is what Thornton-sponsored athlete Adam Kelly has been up to lately.
Overall it was quite a good season with lots of racing. I had 5 podiums throughout the season 3 thirds, and 2 seconds, it’s such a shame I never got that win. Unfortunately, I had to end my season at the start of September after a heavy crash. I injured my hand and had a hematoma on my hip. I tried to continue to train for a couple of weeks in the hope that I was to get more racing in but the swelling on my hip was getting worse the more I rode and decided it was best to finish my season and head home.
Initially, I stayed in Belgium until the end of September as I was looking for a new team for next year but then came home as I wasn’t having much luck. But after about a month of being home, I managed to gain contact with a new team which is being set up for 2023 and at the end of October I signed for the team!
The team is called Benediction Kitei Pro 2020. It is a team registered in Rwanda but is going to be based in Belgium with a calendar of mainly Belgium, France and Holland races. The team is a UCI Continental team which is a step up from what I have been racing this year so I’m really looking forward to making the set-up next year.
